Updating business listings on 50+ sites is a tedious task.
It not only requires a lot of diligence and time, but it is a process that is
better off automated than done manually. Consistent listings across all
platforms is very important, and one
error can lead to:
·
Confused customers
·
Missed sales
Yext works by offering a publisher-level connect, so
businesses can quickly and easily build a consistent web presence.
How does this work?
I tested it out for myself to see the results. I started by:
1.
Creating a 200 – 300 word,
unique description for the client.
2.
Added staff profiles that
existed on the client’s site.
Yext takes care of the rest of the work. After adding in the
information, it took 2 – 3 days to process. In total, information was added to
58 sites and apps.
Here are a few examples for Client 1:
These are just a few sites that the client’s information was
added to automatically. Some of the big name sites not included are:
·
Whitepages.com
·
Yelp
·
Yellowbot.com
·
Superpages.com
·
Local.yahoo.com
These are all high quality, important sites that every
business would want to be listed on. What’s very important to mention is that
Client 1 ordered duplicate
suppression eliminating duplicate entries.
Another client of mine, we will call this company Client 2,
ordered the same service with no extras. The results are as follows:
These are just a very select few sites where Client 2’s
information was posted. If you take a look at the same sites Client 1 and
Client 2 are listed on, the results are virtually the same:
You will even notice that pictures have been added to the
listings.
It gets a little more interesting with Client 3 that is no
longer paying for the service. This client still has active profiles, but it
seems as if all of the extra attributes have been removed. Let’s take a look at
an example:
Viewing this listing, you’ll notice the following
information is missing:
·
Hours of operations
·
Photos
·
Email
·
Description
However, with Client 1 and Client 2, all of this information
is still present. But, remember, these clients are still paying for the Yext
service.
Another client changed their website URL and business name.
Yext updated all of this information across all site listings, which was very
helpful.
Are these sites
bringing in a lot of traffic? Not yet. The traffic from these sources is
very low, but it is highly targeted traffic and is meant to help people find a
business, which is does perfectly. What is really neat about Yext is that they
have websites that are specific to the following countries:
·
United States
·
Czech Republic
·
France
·
Germany
·
Ireland
·
Italy
·
Netherlands
·
New Zealand
·
Russia
·
Slovakia
·
Spain
·
Switzerland
·
Turkey
·
United Kingdom
·
Global
Ultimately, Yext saves a lot of time when conducting local
marketing because it takes away the tedious task of adding and updating listings
across a wide range of websites and apps.
